All About our TENCEL journey

Currently, transitioning from TENCEL™ Lyocell to TENCEL™ Modal has been the most difficult challenge we've faced so far and a difficult decision, but one we've made with careful consideration.

As the production of our TENCEL™ Lyocell fabric has been discontinued in our country, and importing it would result in a significant environmental carbon footprint due to transportation, we almost said goodbye to our little dream - but thanks to our customers' encouragement and love for what we do, we decided to look at the glass half full. Even though we aimed to be perfectly sustainable, we see that we are still contributing positively to the world and people's health with our clothes.

In our quest for sustainability, we explored various alternatives, including organic cotton from different manufacturers and even Refibra from TENCEL™. However, we found that these options did not meet our stringent quality standards, particularly due to the challenges of dyeing with plant-based dyes. So we arrived at the conclusion of sourcing TENCEL™ Modal locally as the best option to minimize our ecological impact without compromising the end result.

NOTE. IT IS NOT REGULAR MODAL - it is a sustainable one :)

Protected by a global certification system, Lenzing has developed environmental processes for manufacturing its modal that are not currently commercially available to others. These sustainable technologies like their closed-loop manufacturing process, where the ingredients used to make this fiber are recycled and reused, minimize waste and environmental impact.

The trademarked TENCEL™ Modal is harvested from PEFC or FSC more responsibly managed beech tree plantations. The environmental footprint is lower than other forms of modal—it has reduced carbon emissions, requires less land per tonne than cotton fibers, and has a water consumption level that’s 10-20 times less than that of cotton. It is also certified biodegradable.

What are TENCEL™ Modal benefits? It is a silky soft high quality fabric. It is breathable, regulates temperature and it is naturally wrinkle-resistant. Comparing it to cotton, it is ten times more resistant to bacterial growth and it is 50% more absorbent, helping wick moisture from the skin.

Special THANKS to our loyal customers for your support as we navigate these changes and continue on our journey towards a more sustainable world.
